“People always ask me, ‘You have so much confidence. Where did that come from?’ It came from me. One day, I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl… it doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see. Your body is your temple, it’s your home, and you must decorate it.”
“Feeling beautiful has nothing to do with what you look like. I promise.”
We so often let the media, other people or even our own inner demon dictate how we should look, act and feel to be beautiful. We need to fix our hair, shave our legs, wear these shorts – then we can achieve some kind of beauty. What we sometimes we forget that the power to be and feel beautiful is in our very hands. We decide if we are beautiful or not, and no one can take that power away from us.
I know that how beauty is being portrayed in the world today is all dependent on appearances. But I for one feel the most beautiful when I make somebody laugh. I feel the most beautiful when I am loved. I feel the most beautiful when I’m riding a bike with the wind in my hair.
The world is a fickle place. It will applaud you one day and kick you to the ground the next. It can tell you all it wants about how to be outwardly beautiful, but only you have the power to decide whether you are or not – and that decision is all that matters. So decide every morning and every night, decide when someone insults you, decide every time you look into the mirror that you are, and always will be, beautiful.
