Quotes to Help You Through a Bad Day

(by maud chalard)“Don’t let a bad day make you feel like you have bad life.”

“This is an important lesson to remember when you’re having a bad day, a bad month, or a shitty year. Things will change: you won’t feel this way forever. Sometimes the hardest lessons to learn are the ones your soul needs most. After all, you can’t truly be happy if you’ve never known pain. You can’t truly feel joy if you’ve never felt heartbreak. You can’t know what it’s like to be filled unless you’ve been empty.”
Kelly Cutrone

“The greatness comes not when things go always good for you. But the greatness comes when you’re really tested, when you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes. Because only if you’ve been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.”
Richard M. Nixon

“If you’re struggling, you deserve to make self-care a priority. Whether that means lying in bed all day, eating comfort food, putting off homework, crying, sleeping, rescheduling plans, finding an escape through a good book, watching your favorite TV show, or doing nothing at all — give yourself permission to put your healing first. Quiet the voice telling you to do more and be more, and today, whatever you do, let it be enough. Feel your feelings, breathe, and be gentle with yourself. Acknowledge that you’re doing the best you can to cope and survive. And trust that during this time of struggle, it’s enough.”
Daniell Koepke

“Savour the moments of sheer happiness like a precious jewel – they come unexpectedly and with an intoxicating thrill. But there will also be moments, of course, when everything is black – perhaps someone you love dearly may hurt or disappoint you and everything may seem too difficult or utterly pointless. But remember, always, that everything passes and nothing stays the same… and everyday brings a new beginning, and nothing, however awful, is completely without hope. Kindness is one of the most important things in life and can mean so much. Try to never hurt those you love. We all make mistakes, and sometimes, terrible ones, but try not to hurt anyone for the sake of your own selfishness. Try to always think ahead and not backwards, but don’t ever try to block out the past, because that is part of you and has made you what you are. But try, oh try, to learn a little from it.”
Patsie to Lara, Mud, Sweat and Tears by Bear Grylls

“My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. Continue to allow humor to lighten the burden of your tender heart.”
Maya Angelou

“Maybe it’s not about having a beautiful day, but about finding beautiful moments. Maybe a whole day is just too much to ask. I could choose to believe that in every day, in all things, no matter how dark and ugly, there are shards of beauty if I look for them.”
Anna White

“If you’re feeling frightened about what comes next – don’t. Embrace the uncertainty. Allow it to lead you places. Be brave as it challenges you to exercise both your heart and your mind as you create your own path towards happiness. Don’t waste time with regret. Spin wildly into your next action. Enjoy the present each moment as it comes because you will never get another one quite like it. And if you should ever look up and find yourself lost simply take a breath and start over. Retrace your steps and go back to the purest place in your heart, where your hope lives – there you’ll find your way again.”

Lately, I’ve been having more bad days. Days where things go wrong, days where I feel very much down on my appearance and days where I want to curl in a ball and sleep for a long time. It’s okay to have days when you feel like this – it is those kind of days that remind us that we are only human. As much as I am saying it to you dear friends, I am saying it to myself – there is always hope for a fresh start and a new day.
